Fact file 1:
The tongue on the giraffe is 45 cm long and it feeds for 16 hours a day
and up to 16 kilogram's of leaves.
Fact file 2: The giraffes diet consists of vegetation found on thorny trees and while eating they may get pricked thousands of times but these heal in a couple of minutes because their saliva serves as an antiseptic. The Giraffe (Twiga in Swahili)
It is the worlds most tallest mammal at times growing to slightly over 5 meters tall. The main types of giraffes found in Kenya are the Rothschild giraffe, reticulated giraffe and maasai giraffe. Both the male and female grow horns with the females having a hairy tips on their horn ends.
